 The limitation with on-site hardware based back-up is that it requires a degree of human participation. Such as setting the back-up schedule, installing and removing tapes/disks, checking that the back-up worked correctly and making sure that back-up takes are taken safely and securely off-site.
And as we know human participation can lead to human error and finding out that you last back-up was not made when trying to recover from a major incident is not the news you want to hear.
For those organisations with a working ADSL connection, AiM offers an off-site secure back-up service - called iDataSec - whereby your data is copied and stored off-site at our secure data centres in the UK and US - which have high resilience mirroring between them. The back-up schedule need only be set up once and from then on there need be no human involvement.
Our service comprises:
- Storage space
- Setting up the service from your server
- Setting up the back-up schedule
- Checking that the back-up takes place
- Checking once per month the integrity and recoverability of the back-up.
This service is fully compatible with our ICT Network Solutions and our ICT Managed Support service. Your back-up is available by browser 24x7x365 each year through a secure website. If you have also subscribed to our ICT Disaster Recovery service then during a major incident we can recover the data more easily and quickly than from tape or Rev Drives.
