ICT Design & Build

Most modern organisations and places of education have sophisticated ICT data and voice equipment installed in their offices and campuses for accessing, processing, sharing, storing and retrieving information.  For voice, and increasingly for data, this equipment is connected together within a network to allow users and their ICT equipment to communicate with colleagues, other sites, data repositories and remotely through the internet.  The ICT data and voice equipment and the hardwired cabling or wireless connectivity which connect them are called ICT infrastructures.

Scope of the ICT Design & Build Service

Our ICT Design & Build Service comprises the set of skills and competencies necessary to take responsibility for the design, build, integration and implementation of simple to complex ICT data/voice infrastructures and systems based on an organisation’s business specification. This includes the fitting out with ICT infrastructures of new or refurbished offices and disaster recovery sites and undertaking office moves; as well as integrating different system platforms and architectures, such as managed cabled local area networks (LANs), with wireless solutions (WiFi), multi-media and smart-card technologies.

The ICT Design & Build Service – sometimes also referred to as a ‘turnkey’ service – works within a project or programme framework employing a structured ‘measured rates’ approach which means that you are aware up-front of the level of investment required and the cost of changes to the specification.

Business Server Solutions for Small to Medium Sized Organisations and Schools

This family of solutions has been specially designed for those organisations with up to 50 users and 75 PCs who want a scaleable, future-proofed network with low cost of ownership and administration.  The solution is based on the latest Windows technology and represents a 'one box-server' offering.  This means that all the key services of a modern client/server network are located on the one server, centralising administration making it quicker and easier.  This promotes business responsiveness rather than restricting it.  The solutions include the latest network security, firewall and storage features, an intranet (SharePoint) and a full backup utility as standard.

It also provides Outlook Web Access so staff on the move or at home can keep in touch by getting their office email via the internet and can collaborate remotely on tasks. It allows the deployment of the latest software as well as legacy applications and manages all network resources through the Windows active directory.  The solution supports all types of client - desktop, laptop and palmtop - as well as permitting the integration of wireless working for those who do not want to be restricted in the office.
