Environment Management

Environmental impact is one of the key challenges of our times, with pressure to minimise that impact coming from local and national governments, regulators, trade organisations, and the public.

Understanding the impact of an organisation's actions on the environment and doing the most to remove or minimise it (such as carbon footprint) is an important responsibility for all, and particularly so for the following groups:

  • Single site to large multi-national companies
  • High risk to low risk service organisations
  • Manufacturing, process and service industries, including local government
  • Original equipment manufacturers and their suppliers.

ISO 14001 is the international standard that sets out how an organisation can go about putting in place an effective Environmental Management System (EMS). The standard is designed to address the balance between achieving organisational objectives and reducing environmental impact.  It comprises:

  • General requirements
  • Environmental policy and improvement objectives
  • Planning implementation and operation
  • Checking and corrective action
  • Management review.
